The Flamenco Festival in San Pedro del Pinatar appeared in 1993 as the result of the curiosity and sensibility shown by the Town Hall and other groups to make homage to the great flamenco artist José Monje Cruz, known as Camarón de la Isla, on the anniversary of his death.
From that moment it is held on a regular basis and it is celebrated on the first Saturday in July. Now that the best flamenco artists have performed there and the Festival has acquired its own style, audience and unique atmosphere, now it has become the “flamenco Festival of the Mar Menor", the Festival that offers its fans every year the chance to enjoy a multicoloured flamenco night, and it represents the starting point of the flamenco season in the Region of Murcia.
