In San Javier, so close to the Mar Menor, something as simple and natural as the birth of a child becomes a great event. People from all over the country come to see the “Time monument” exhibited in the heart of the village: "EL BELEN DE ESPAÑA" (a Spanish nativity scene).
Using the best figures made by craftsmen from Murcia, the mysteries, traditions and old ways of working in the field and the market garden, “la huerta”, are represented here.

Visiting this scene can be a simultaneous religious and historical lesson. The most attractive aspect, besides the quality of the figures, are the moving pictures: peasants, mills, waterwheels, soldiers, etc., which delight the visitors. The final complement to the festive-cultural offer is comprised by the shows of chants, folk groups and street musicians, the so called “rondallas”, who walk around San Javier at Christmas.
