La Manga del Mar Menor is a thin stretch of land between the Mediterranean and the Menor seas, measuring an average 300 m. in width and 21 Km. in length. Until 1863 it belonged to the State and that year it was sold at a public audition during the disentailment process. La Manga is a human and natural environment undergoing a constant change.
Part of it is covered with apartments, estates, luxury villas, hotels, restaurants, discos and an important Marina with a blue flag and excellent installations, including a Casino in its surroundings. Its last few kilometres are basically in the same conditions.
La Manga offers a considerable number of beaches, over 40 Km of sand, as well as the possibility to choose between two seas with water at different temperatures, levels of salinity and rougher or calmer waters. The Mar Menor beaches, such as El Pino, El Pedruchillo, El Galán... have calm waters, but those on the Mediterranean, like El Arenal, Pedrucho, Banco Tabal, Levante, Marchamalo and many others are typically Mediterranean.
La Manga is in itself a wonderful destination, offering 50% of the total number of hotels in the region, 87% of apartments and 50% of campsites, and where the cosmopolitan atmosphere is added to the beauty of its landscape, its special features to practice water sports and a vast range of opportunities for entertainment and leisure.
